Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 2026 · Applies to Kite Pay payment processing services
The 1% Fee
Kite Pay charges a flat fee of 1% of each successfully processed transaction. This is the only fee you pay for using Kite Pay and Kite POS.
There is no monthly subscription, no setup fee, no hardware cost, and no minimum volume requirement. You pay only when you take a payment.
Example: A customer pays £50.00 at your business. The full £50.00 transfers directly from their bank account to yours within minutes — Kite Pay never holds or touches the funds. At the end of the month, we invoice you 1% of your total transaction volume (£0.50 in this example).
What's Included at 1%
The 1% transaction fee covers your full access to the Kite Pay platform, including:
Kite POS — a browser-based point-of-sale system that works on any device you already own. No app install required. Fast settlements — funds land in your business bank account within minutes, not days. Kite Pay never holds your money. Table service, kitchen display & bill splitting — built-in tools for restaurants, bars, and cafes at no extra charge. Refunds — issue refunds securely and directly from the POS. Sales & tax reports — CSV export for your accountant, with built-in VAT handling. Optional customer email receipts — customers can enter their email at checkout to receive a receipt. Dedicated support — a real person to help when you need it.
Rate Adjustments
Our standard rate is 1% per transaction. We aim to keep this rate stable, but we reserve the right to adjust it in the following circumstances:
-
API provider cost changes: Kite Pay's payment infrastructure runs on Open Banking APIs provided by a regulated third party. If our provider changes their fees, we may adjust our rate proportionally to reflect this. -
Transaction volume: Our pricing assumes a certain level of monthly transaction volume as discussed at sign-up. If your actual volume is significantly lower than estimated, a different rate may apply. If your volume is higher, you may qualify for a reduced rate — we'll proactively reach out. -
Personalised discounts: We may offer custom rates to individual merchants based on volume, business type, or partnership agreements. Any agreed rate will be confirmed in writing and will take precedence over the standard 1%. -
Promotional pricing: We may offer introductory or time-limited promotional rates. Standard rates will apply after the promotional period ends, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Notice & Right to Exit
Any change to your rate will be communicated to you at least 30 days in advance via the email address you registered with.
If you do not accept a rate change, you may terminate your agreement with us without penalty before the change takes effect. Simply contact us at info@kiteiq.co.uk and we will close your account with no further charges.
We will never apply a rate change retroactively. Changes only apply to transactions processed after the effective date stated in the notice.
Payment Processing
Payment initiation services are provided by Asima, an FCA-authorised payment institution. Kite Pay does not hold, store, or process card data. All payments are made directly from your customer's bank account to yours via Open Banking — a government-led, FCA-regulated framework.
Kite Pay is a product of KiteIQ. These terms constitute an agreement between you (the merchant) and KiteIQ.
